Swedish band Hammerfall, one of the most prominent names in traditional European heavy metal, arrives at Bangers Open Air boasting over three decades of career and a established discography. Formed in Gothenburg in 1993 by guitarist Oscar Dronjak, the group gained a new dimension with the arrival of vocalist Joacim Cans in 1996. The following year, they released "Glory to the Brave", an album that helped bring traditional metal back into the spotlight across the European scene.
The impact of "Glory to the Brave" was followed by a series of works that solidified HammerFall's identity. "Legacy of Kings" (1998), "Renegade" (2000), and "Crimson Thunder" (2002) expanded the band's reach and established a sound rooted in classic heavy metal heaviness and power metal. During this period, the group began appearing at major festivals and touring alongside acts like Iron Maiden, Dio, Deep Purple, Alice Cooper, Rammstein, and Slayer. After a temporary hiatus tied, among other factors, to a motorcycle accident suffered by Dronjak, the band resumed activity and released "Chapter V: Unbent, Unbowed, Unbroken" (2005), "Threshold" (2006), "No Sacrifice, No Victory" (2009), and "Infected" (2011).
In the following decades, Hammerfall maintained a steady output with "(r)Evolution" (2014), "Built to Last" (2016), "Dominion" (2019), and "Hammer of Dawn" (2022). In 2020, the group delivered the live album "Live! Against the World", and between 2022 and 2023, took part in the "United Forces" tour alongside Helloween. In 2024, they released "Avenge the Fallen", their 13th studio album, which reaffirmed their signature blend of heaviness, melody, and massive choruses.
In 2026, Hammerfall remains active, carrying on the tradition of bringing their heavy metal to stages across the globe. Now, Joacim Cans, Oscar Dronjak, Fredrik Larsson (bass), Pontus Norgren (guitar), and David Wallin (drums) are gearing up to reunite with the Brazilian audience at Bangers Open Air 2027, bringing a setlist to the festival that bridges career classics and recent tracks. "I am very happy that we have so many fans over there [in Brazil] and that we share the same devotion to Heavy Metal. The energy Brazilian fans give off when we are on stage is something truly remarkable," concludes Oscar Dronjak.
