Project46 is a band from São Paulo that revolutionized the Brazilian heavy metal scene by
carving out a space completely independently—something unseen since the 1990s. From
the very beginning, the group focused on intense and consistent work, gaining recognition
with the release of the album Doa a Quem Doer in 2011. Their visibility grew with
performances at international festivals such as Maquinaria in Chile, and they won a public
vote to play at Monsters of Rock 2013, alongside major metal acts like Slipknot and Korn.
This recognition is credited to their highly engaged fanbase and the contagious energy of
their live performances.
In 2014, the release of their second album, Que Seja Feita a Nossa Vontade, further
solidified the band’s presence in the national scene and was voted Album of the Year by
Wikimetal. Their participation in major events like Rock in Rio, Maximus Festival, Porão do
Rock, and Hell in Rio between 2016 and 2017 reinforced Project46’s position as one of the
country’s leading metal bands. The third album, TR3S, released in 2017 and recorded in
the United States with producer Adair Daufembach, marked a phase of musical maturity.
Combining the band members’ technical precision and aggression, the album featured
dense, reflective lyrics on human and social themes, alongside a modern and impactful
sound.
The acclaim for TR3S was confirmed when it won Best Album of 2017 from Roadie Crew
magazine, and the members received individual recognition in the Best Instrumentalist
categories. In 2019, the band fulfilled a dream by performing at Knotfest Mexico, organized
by Slipknot—one of their greatest influences. The event was a milestone in the band’s
international trajectory, during which they released the English version of the song “Pode
Pá”, later included in Tr3s English Edition, released independently in 2020. The pandemic
caused a brief pause, but Project46 returned with full force in 2022, performing at Knotfest
Brazil alongside legends like Pantera and Judas Priest.
In 2023, the band continued its rise, performing at the prestigious Summer Breeze Brasil
and recording their first full live set. Between September and December, they embarked on
the “Tour Terra de Ninguém”, performing 25 shows across several Brazilian capitals and
expanding their original festival 46Fest beyond São Paulo. A highlight was the invitation
from Robb Flynn of Machine Head to share the stage at one of São Paulo’s largest
venues, Tokio Marine Hall, reaffirming the band’s relevance on the international stage.
The band’s lineup underwent recent changes with the departure of Jean Patton and Betto
Cardoso, making way for drummer Pedro Henrique (Japa Drummer), solidifying Project46
as a quartet. The new lineup—Caio MacBeserra (vocals), Vini Castellari (guitar), Baffo
Neto (bass), and Japa Drummer (drums)—officially debuted at Knotfest Brazil 2024,
maintaining the high level of energy and technical precision. The group is currently
producing their new album, scheduled for release in 2025. With over a decade of history,
Project46 has established itself as the leading representative of modern Brazilian metal,
preserving its independent spirit and provocative message, always evolving.
