Currently promoting their tenth studio album, Sleepless Empire, released in February 2025, Lacuna Coil is going through an intense phase and has confirmed their return to Brazil for Bangers Open Air 2027. The new record was preceded by the singles "Oxygen" and "Gravity", marking the studio return of the Italian band—formed by Andrea Ferro and Cristina Scabbia (vocals), Daniele Salomone (guitar), Marco Coti Zelati (bass and keyboards), and Richard Meiz (bateria)—after a period dedicated to songwriting and returning to live experiences.
Created during a golden era for power and prog metal in Italy—which saw the rise of names like Eldritch, Rhapsody, Labyrinth, Domine, Secret Sphere, and Time Machine, among others—Lacuna Coil, much like Theatres des Vampires, brought a different musical proposal. Emerging in Milan from the ashes of Sleep of Right, the group gained a new identity with the arrival of Cristina Scabbia. Renamed Lacuna Coil after a brief stint as Ethereal, they caught the attention of Century Media and released the Lacuna Coil EP in 1998, followed by the albums In a Reverie (1999) and Unleashed Memories (2001).
International breakthrough came with Comalies (2002), driven by the hit singles "Heaven's a Lie" and "Swamped". By 2006, the band expanded their popularity even further with Karmacode, which featured the hit "Our Truth" (included on the Underworld: Evolution movie soundtrack) as well as their cover of Depeche Mode's "Enjoy the Silence", a mandatory staple in their live sets.
Subsequently, the band released Shallow Life (2009), Dark Adrenaline (2012), Broken Crown Halo (2014), and Delirium (2016), a period during which Lacuna Coil intensified their relationship with the Brazilian audience, returning to the country frequently.
Following Black Anima (2019), the band revisited one of their greatest milestones with the release of Comalies XX (2022), a complete reimagining of their 2002 classic album. In 2023, the group released the brand-new track "Never Dawn", created for the soundtrack of the board game Zombicide: White Death. Later, in April 2024, shortly after performing at Summer Breeze Brasil, they released the single "In the Mean Time", featuring a special guest appearance by Ash Costello, vocalist of New Years Day.
