KAMELOT
Well-known for their complex compositions and orchestral arrangements, the American power metal band Kamelot is currently promoting “The Awakening” (2023). Formed in 1991 in Tampa, Florida, the band has undergone several lineup changes, but founding guitarist Thomas Youngblood has remained the main constant member. Today, he performs alongside Tommy Karevik (vocals), Sean Tibbetts (bass), Alex Landenburg (drums), and Oliver Palotai (keyboards).
Kamelot is famous for their poetic lyrics and conceptual themes, often exploring epic stories, mythology, psychology, and fantasy elements. Notable albums in their discography include “Siége Perilous” (1998), “The Fourth Legacy” (1999), “Karma” (2001), “Epica” (2003), “The Black Halo” (2005), “Ghost Opera” (2007), “Silverthorn” (2012), “The Shadow Theory” (2018), and “The Awakening” (2023).
A major chapter in the band’s history was written with former Norwegian vocalist Roy Khan (of Conception), who contributed immensely to defining Kamelot’s signature sound. After his departure in 2011, Tommy Karevik stepped in, bringing his own powerful and expressive voice, already known for his work with Seventh Wonder.
“Kamelot’s career has greatly evolved since ‘Siége Perilous’. We’ve reached a higher level in the compositions and production of our albums. Our foundation is heavy metal, but in addition to classical references, we’re open to many other types of elements, such as Celtic music, for example. We like to diversify our style, and this can be noticed in ‘The Fourth Legacy’ and ‘Karma’,” Thomas Youngblood once told Roadie Crew magazine. “We usually work with fantasy, historical, religious, and spiritual themes,” he added.
Accustomed to performing at major festivals, Kamelot will showcase the strength of power metal, melodic metal, and symphonic metal at Bangers Open Air 2025.
