FEUERSCHWANZ

Feuerschwanz is a German folk metal and medieval metal band formed in Erlangen in 2004. Founded by bassist Peter Henrici, violinist Tobias Heindl (of Fiddler’s Green), and bassist Andre Linke, the lineup evolved over time and developed a distinctive style that combines humor, theatricality, and heaviness. Their early albums—described by the band itself as “medieval folk comedy”—featured satirical lyrics and irreverent language, which stirred some controversy in Germany due to their humorous content. Starting in 2020, the group adopted a more serious direction, leaning toward modern heavy metal.

After their first appearance on the German charts with Wunsch ist Wunsch (2011), Feuerschwanz began a steadily rising trajectory of success. The album Sex is Muss (2016) reached the Top 10, marking a turning point in their career. Under the Napalm Records label, Das Elfte Gebot (2020) debuted at number 3 and remained on the charts for eight weeks, followed by the live album Die letzte Schlacht (2021), which peaked at number 4. In 2022, the band reached the top of the German charts with Memento Mori, cementing their status as one of Germany’s leading metal acts.

With thirteen albums released and countless performances, Feuerschwanz has become one of the main names in contemporary folk and medieval metal. Though the lineup has changed several times, the band has maintained its vibrant energy and sense of spectacle, delivering powerful and entertaining live shows. Their combination of epic anthems, folk elements, and heavy riffs has created a unique and instantly recognizable identity in the European scene.

In 2025, the band is set to release Knightclub, their new studio album. The record features guest appearances by Doro Pesch, Dag-Alexis Kopplin (SDP), and Lord of the Lost, with production by Simon Michael (Subway to Sally) and mastering by Jacob Hansen (Arch Enemy, Volbeat). Blending heaviness, infectious choruses, and the band’s trademark humor, Knightclub reaffirms Feuerschwanz as one of the leading forces in modern folk metal—celebrating over two decades of uninterrupted activity, dominating the stages of Europe’s biggest festivals, and now also performing at Bangers Open Air in 2026.
