The Swedish band Enforcer will be one of the attractions at Bangers Open Air 2027, bringing a combination of traditional heavy metal, speed metal, and the characteristic energy of the New Wave of Traditional Heavy Metal (NWOTHM) to the festival. Formed in Arvika, the group started as a solo project by vocalist and guitarist Olof Wikstrand, who recorded the first demos almost entirely by himself. With the full lineup formed, Enforcer caught attention in the underground circuit with the demos "Enforcer" and "Evil Attacker," leaning into the speed, aggressiveness, and aesthetics of classic heavy metal.
In 2008, the group released "Into the Night," followed by "Diamonds" (2010), expanding their international presence and contributing to the growth of the NWOTHM movement. This growth led to a deal with Nuclear Blast in 2012 and the release of "Death by Fire" (2013) and "From Beyond" (2015). This period was also marked by intense international touring and the live album "Live by Fire."
In 2019, Enforcer released "Zenith," which showcased a more elaborate approach and new influences, while also marking the arrival of guitarist Jonathan Nordwall. During the pandemic came "Live by Fire II" (2021). In 2023, "Nostalgia," their sixth studio album, represented a more direct return to speed metal roots, blending fast, aggressive riffs with memorable melodies and choruses.
In 2027, Olof Wikstrand (vocals and guitar), Jonathan Nordwall (guitar), Garth Condit (bass), and Jonas Wikstrand (drums) head to Bangers Open Air to present a career built on speed, riffs, melodies, and devotion to metal roots. Wikstrand summarizes the relationship between their career and success by highlighting the unpredictability of a band's journey: "Achieving success with a band is about as likely as winning the lottery. So, I learned that I at least need to have fun doing it."
