ELUVEITIE

Eluveitie was formed in 2002 by Swiss multi-instrumentalist and composer Chrigel Glanzmann, born from the idea of merging the heaviness and intensity of melodic death metal with the cultural and spiritual richness of Celtic music. Originating from the Swiss Alps, the band quickly stood out by incorporating traditional instruments—such as bagpipes, flutes, violin, hurdy-gurdy, and whistles—into modern and aggressive arrangements. The concept, described as pure Folk Metal, was presented in the EP "Vên" (2004), which served as the foundation for their debut album, "Spirit" (2006).

Breakthrough success came in 2008 with "Slania," which defined the group's signature style and turned "Inis Mona" into a modern folk metal anthem, paving the way for their third album, "Everything Remains (As It Never Was)" (2010). "Helvetios" (2012) presented an epic concept about the history of the Helvetii, the Celtic people who inhabited Swiss territory, while "Origins" (2014) dived deeper into Celtic mythology. In parallel, the band demonstrated its versatility through the acoustic albums "Evocation I – The Arcane Dominion" (2009) and "Evocation II – Pantheon" (2017), where the focus shifted purely to folk traditions and acoustic soundscapes.

Following line-up changes, Eluveitie entered a new chapter with "Ategnatos" (2019), marking a thematic and musical maturation by uniting melodic death metal with the mystical and poetic atmospheres of ancient Druidic traditions. In 2022, the singles "Aidus" and "Exile of the Gods" were released, initiating a new conceptual cycle that continued the spiritual and mythological narrative developed in "Ategnatos." Later, in 2024, violinist Lea-Sophie Fischer joined the line-up, reinforcing the group's commitment to maintaining its organic, emotional sound amid natural transformations over the years.

In April 2025, they released "ÀNV," which represents over two decades of immersion in Celtic mythology and pagan wisdom, translated into a modern and accessible format without losing touch with tradition—keeping the ancestral soul of folk metal alive for new generations. Chrigel Glanzmann, Kay Brem, Rafael Salzmann, Jonas Wolf, Alain Ackermann, Fabienne Erni, and Lea-Sophie Fischer will showcase their technique and Celtic tradition on stage at Bangers Open Air 2027.
