Warm-up on May 2 | Festival happening May 3-4, 2025!

Dreamspirit, a Chinese folk metal band formed in 2005, stands out for its unique fusion of traditional Chinese sounds with contemporary influences. With poetic lyrics exploring themes such as spirituality, nature, and the search for identity in an ever-changing world, Cao Hongshun (vocals), Li Shun and Wang Bao (guitars), Liu Zheng (bass), Peng Lianjing (drums), and San Tu (keyboards) also incorporate traditional instruments like the guzheng and erhu, creating a sound that transcends cultural boundaries.

The year 2017 was crucial for Dreamspirit with the release of “General Triumphant”, an album narrating the story of a fictional general inspired by historical figures. After touring in Europe and Japan, where they gained recognition in Burrn! magazine, the band signed with Modern Sky and released “A.D.1279” in 2021, exploring the rich history of ancient China. By 2023, Dreamspirit was back on the road, touring across China with Northtale, drawing a significant moment for international metal in the country after the pandemic.

Now, aiming to expand its borders even further and integrate Chinese cultural traditions into the global metal scene, Dreamspirit is set to perform at Bangers Open Air 2025. Yes, they are the first Chinese metal band ever to play in Brazil!

Originating from the Taishan mountains and now based in Beijing, the band has been developing its unique sound since its debut album, “Mountains and Rivers” (2014), which blends heavy riffs with folk instruments such as the Dizi and Xiao (Chinese flutes) and the Guzheng. The following year, Dreamspirit gained international recognition when they performed at Wacken Open Air in Germany, competing in the W.O.A. Metal Battle.
