Crypta is a Brazilian Death Metal band formed in 2019 by Fernanda Lira (bass and vocals)
and Luana Dametto (drums), who aimed to create a project where they could freely
explore their musical identity within the genre. Shortly after its formation, the band signed
with the Austrian label Napalm Records and secured management through Napalm
Events. The original lineup was reinforced by Dutch guitarist Sonia Anubis in June 2019,
followed by the addition of Brazilian Tainá Bergamaschi in April 2020, solidifying the
quartet. Their official public debut took place in May of the same year, marking the
beginning of the band’s journey in the music scene.
In January 2021, Crypta entered a studio in São Paulo to record their debut album,
Echoes of the Soul, released worldwide in June 2021. With production, mixing, and
mastering handled by renowned names like Thiago Vakka, Arthur Rizk, and Jens Bogren,
the album gained international recognition, distributed by Napalm Records and charting in
countries such as Germany and Switzerland. The album also featured the music video for
“From The Ashes,” which surpassed 1.5 million views. During this period, the band
underwent its first lineup change with the departure of Sonia Anubis, who was replaced by
Jessica di Falchi, who later also left the band.
In August 2023, the band released their second album, Shades of Sorrow, again through
Napalm Records. The record received widespread acclaim, charting in Germany,
Switzerland, Austria, the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. In the U.S., the
album reached #71 on the Billboard Top Current Album Sales chart and placed Crypta
among the few Brazilian artists to appear on the “Emerging Artists” chart, alongside names
like Sepultura, thanks to strong sales and streaming performance.
With a career marked by steady growth and worldwide recognition, Crypta has embarked
on intensive tours as headliner and alongside major acts such as Morbid Angel, Carcass,
Behemoth, and Arch Enemy, performing across Latin America, Europe, the United States,
and Canada. The band has also appeared at major metal festivals, including Rock in Rio,
Wacken Open Air, Bloodstock, and Brutal Assault. In 2025, Crypta continues as an official
trio, featuring guest guitarists for shows and tours, with new dates confirmed in various
regions worldwide. Simultaneously, the band is preparing to release their third studio
album, scheduled for mid-2026.
