CHILDREN OF BODOM

Children of Bodom will be one of the attractions at Bangers Open Air 2027, bringing to the Brazilian festival the repertoire of one of the most important bands in Finnish metal. Known for the combination of melodic death metal, speed, virtuosity, and neoclassical influences, the group built its own identity by uniting aggressive riffs, elaborate guitar solos, and striking keyboards. The performance represents an opportunity to celebrate a trajectory that helped popularize melodic extreme metal and conquered fans in different parts of the world.

Formed in 1993 in Espoo, initially under the name Inearthed, the group adopted Children of Bodom before releasing their debut album, "Something Wild", in 1997. Led by the late guitarist and vocalist Alexi Laiho, the band gained international projection with "Follow the Reaper" (2000), which consolidated their sound and expanded their presence in the metal scene. The combination of dark melodies, complex instrumental passages, and aggressive vocals became one of their main characteristics.

Consecration came with "Hate Crew Deathroll" (2003), considered one of the fundamental works of their discography and responsible for further expanding the band's reach. Following that, "Are You Dead Yet?" (2005) presented a more direct sound, incorporating new influences without abandoning the intensity that marked their first releases. Throughout their career, songs like "Lake Bodom", "Silent Night, Bodom Night", "Downfall", "Hate Me!", "Follow the Reaper", "Everytime I Die", "Needled 24/7", and "In Your Face" became classics of their repertoire. Performances on international tours and major festivals consolidated Children of Bodom as one of the most influential bands in melodic death metal.

The original trajectory of Children of Bodom came to an end in December 2019, with a farewell show in Helsinki. The death of Alexi Laiho in December 2020, at the age of 41, made the legacy left by the musician, recognized for his technique, creativity, and artistic personality, even more significant. In February 2026, the remaining members returned to the stage for two special shows at the Tavastia club, in the Finnish capital, in honor of the band's history. The lineup brought together Alexander Kuoppala (guitar), Henkka Blacksmith (bass), Jaska Raatikainen (drums), and Janne Warman (keyboard), with Samy Elbanna, vocalist and guitarist of Lost Society, taking over vocals and lead guitar. The resumption of performances also paves the way for the 30th-anniversary celebration of the release of "Something Wild" in 2027, keeping Alexi Laiho's music and his contribution to world metal alive.
