The concert will also include songs from different periods of the band’s career, featuring “Rebel Maniac,” “Evolution,” “Dead Light,” “The Shelter,” and “The Spreading Soul.”
Founded in 1985 by Andre Matos (vocals), brothers Pit Passarell (bass) and Yves Passarell (guitar), Felipe Machado (guitar), and Cássio Audi (drums), VIPER is one of the key names in Brazilian heavy metal. In 2025, they will mark 40 years since their first show, held on April 8, 1985, at Lira Paulistana. Their discography includes Evolution (1992), Coma Rage (1994), Tem Pra Todo Mundo (1996), and All My Life (2007). Their most recent album, Timeless (2023), is their first with new material in 15 years and includes the tracks “Under the Sun,” “Freedom of Speech,” and “The Android.”
Having performed at major festivals like Rock in Rio (2013 and 2022) and Monsters of Rock, and having performed alongside Metallica, Kiss, Black Sabbath, and Motörhead, VIPER promises a remarkable show at Bangers Open Air 2025.

VIPER
VIPER will honor the memory of Pit Passarell—bassist, vocalist, and composer—by performing the entire Evolution album (1992). This special show at Bangers Open Air 2025 will feature Leandro Caçoilo (vocals), Felipe Machado and Kiko Shred (guitars), and Guilherme Martin (drums). In addition to the full album, they will revisit songs from different phases of the band’s history, including “Rebel Maniac,” “Evolution,” “Dead Light,” “The Shelter,” and “The Spreading Soul.”
The band was formed in 1985 by Andre Matos (vocals), brothers Pit Passarell (bass) and Yves Passarell (guitar), Felipe Machado (guitar), and Cássio Audi (drums). One of the pioneers of Brazilian heavy metal, VIPER will celebrate 40 years since their first concert, which took place on April 8, 1985, at Lira Paulistana. Their first album, Soldiers of Sunrise, was released in 1987, followed by Theatre of Fate (1989), which blended power metal with classical influences. This second album brought memorable tracks such as “Living for the Night,” “A Cry from the Edge,” “Prelude to Oblivion,” and “Moonlight.”
After finishing the Fate on Tour in 1990, Andre Matos left VIPER to focus on his music studies and due to creative differences with the band. Pit Passarell then took over lead vocals, and the group began working on their third album. With the arrival of drummer Renato Graccia, they flew to Germany to record Evolution. The album’s heavier sound, along with songs that became highly popular, turned Evolution into VIPER’s best-selling record. Music videos for “Rebel Maniac” and “Dead Light” making a lasting impact on MTV and were part of the soundtrack of the 1990s generation.
VIPER toured extensively in Europe and Japan and played unforgettable shows in Brazil, including Monsters of Rock and concerts opening for Black Sabbath and Metallica in São Paulo, Viper reached its golden years.. During their time in Japan, they recorded the live album Maniacs in Japan – VIPER Live.
Their discography also includes Coma Rage (1994), Tem Pra Todo Mundo (1996), and All My Life (2007). In their lineup with Leandro Caçoilo, Felipe Machado, Kiko Shred, Pit Passarell, and Guilherme Martin, VIPER released Timeless (2023), their first album of new material in 15 years. Produced by Mauricio Cersosimo—who has worked with Paul McCartney and Avril Lavigne—the album features songs like “Under the Sun,” “Freedom of Speech,” and “The Android,” all of which have music videos available online.
