LORD OF THE LOST

Returning to set Bangers Open Air 2025 on fire after blowing minds in 2023, Germany’s dark rock, gothic, and industrial metal band Lord of the Lost, featuring Chris “The Lord” Harms (vocals, guitar), Class Grenayde (bass), Gared Dirge (keyboard, synthesizer), Pi Stoffers (guitar), and Niklas Kahl (drums), returns with their high-voltage, theatrical performance.

Formed in Hamburg in mid-2007, the band initially began as a solo project by Chris Harms, a multi-instrumentalist, vocalist, producer (Hammer Studios and Chameleon Studios), and audio engineer trained at the SAE Institute. Harms also composes film music, produces music videos, and gives cello lessons. In 1999, Harms formed his first band, Philiae, and left in 2004, then helped found The Pleasures. He later joined the electro band Unterart and, at the same time, started the solo project Lord, which later evolved into Lord of the Lost.

The debut single, “Dry the Rain,” was released in 2009, followed by their first album, “Fears,” in 2010. The album was promoted with extensive touring, which included appearances at international festivals like Wave-Gotik-Treffen, Wacken Open Air, and M’era Luna Festival. In 2011, the single “Sex on Legs” was released, preceding the second album, the concept album “Antagony.” By 2012, their third album, “Die Tomorrow,” was released. Later that year, Chris Harms and his bandmates founded the German-language project Harms & Kapelle and also Over The Jordan.

With their creative process sharpened, they began working on their fourth album, “From the Flame into the Fire,” while touring in support of “Die Tomorrow.” Lord of the Lost continued their 2013 tour by co-headlining the “Darkness Kills” tour with Unzucht and, in September, began the “We Are the Lost” tour with Lost Area. In October, they were featured at Gothic Meets Klassik, performing with the Zielona Gòra Symphony Orchestra in Poland.

In March 2014, with drummer Tobias Mertens, the band embarked on their first tour in the United States, financed through crowdfunding. Things progressed well, and a year later, the acoustic album “Swan Songs” was released, followed by the live album “A Night to Remember – Live Acoustic in Hamburg” (CD and DVD).

“The Love of God,” the first taste of the concept album “Empyrean,” was released in May 2016, followed by the band’s first major European tour. The group, which also released “Thornstar” (2018) and “Judas” (2021), showcases a wide range of musicality, spanning several genres, including gothic, metal, dark, industrial, glam rock, and classical music. Chris Harms cites Rammstein, Nine Inch Nails, Marilyn Manson, and Lady Gaga among the many artists he listens to and is influenced by. In addition to his own band projects, Harms also works as a producer for several artists, such as Joachim Witt, and was involved in the composition, production, and instrumentation of Nino de Angelo’s album.

During the “Judas” tour, the band was the opening act for Iron Maiden. Having already earned praise from Steve Harris, they recorded a version of “Children of the Damned,” a track from the classic album “The Number of the Beast” (1982). On stage, Lord of the Lost, currently promoting the DVD/Blu-Ray “Live at W:O:A,” delivers a high-voltage, theatrical performance. That’s exactly what fans can expect to witness once again at Bangers Open Air 2025!
