Phornax is one of the confirmed acts for Bangers Open Air 2027. The band from Rio Grande do Sul arrives at the festival in a new phase of its journey, which began in 2009 in Porto Alegre and is defined by the heaviness, technical skill, and aggressiveness of its heavy metal. Originally formed by Cristiano Poschi (vocals) and Maurício Dariva (drums), the group established its identity with guitarist, songwriter, and producer Thiago Prandini, releasing the EP "Silent War" (2012), which earned strong praise from music critics. Following a hiatus of more than a decade, the band returned to the stage in 2024 and reclaimed its space in the Brazilian metal scene.
The current lineup brings together Cristiano Poschi (vocals), Deivid Moraes and Eduardo Martinez (guitars), Sfinge Lima (bass), and Maurício Dariva (drums). The comeback gathered further momentum with the creation of Phornax Fest, a festival organized by the band itself that reached its third edition in December 2025 at Bar Opinião in Porto Alegre, featuring acts like Noturnall and Tierramystica.
In 2026, Phornax also joined the All Metal Stars tour in tribute to Andre Matos, alongside musicians such as Aquiles Priester, Thiago Bianchi, and Edu Ardanuy, expanding their presence across the national scene.
This new chapter for the band is also highlighted by "Hellforge" (2026), Phornax's debut full-length album, produced by Renato Osório. Featuring ten tracks—including "Hell's Paradise," "Between Fear and Hope," "A Matter of Time," and "Silent War"—the record channels the experience of their hiatus into a overarching concept about enduring chaos and emerging transformed.
